In the Office of Student Involvement, my main focus is on two student organization which are Homecoming committee and Lead Green (Leadership organization for the university). Homecoming at Northwest is a week-long celebration each October featuring athletic events, entertainment and plenty of opportunities for everyone to show their university spirit. Being the adviser for Homecoming, I advise the executive board to plan all the events that happens during the Homecoming week. Lead Green’s goal is to enhance student development and provide meaningful experiences. Through the leadership program, students will cultivate their skills to succeed both personally and professionally. Being the adviser for the organization, I advice the Lead Green mentors in conducting various leadership workshops for the students on campus and overall help the university to acquire more student leaders.

Through this role I learned various professional skills like presentation skills, public speaking, time management skills, verbal and written communication skills, and many more. It also helped me build some leadership skills as I presented syllabus materials to the class and led the class. It helped me to understand that listening to other and learning from other is very important as each of us very different personality and approach to deal with things.

I was required to live within a community and work toward the goals and objectives set forth by the Department of Residential Life. It was very enjoyable as I got the opportunity to know a lot of new people and learn something different from my culture from each one of them.
