“Live to Learn. Learn to Live.”We are lifelong learners. Humans have an insatiable desire to learn - this could be from their experiences, from observing the world around, by taking risks and many a times by experimenting. I feel that the current education system that is based on a rote learning approach has lost the essence of learning. Children are always stressed out and they do not really enjoy the subjects. Mathematics and Science, which are so integral to our daily lives, become tough and boring subjects for most of the kids. I wish that we can build the scientific curiosity and the tinkering mindset in this generation of millennials, weaning them off from all the gadgets and expose them to the joy of trying and learning new things. I am a mother of two daughters – elder one passed out from IIT Delhi and the younger one just got into IITDelhi . And believe me doing things experientially really helped them ! Education is the best gift that we can give to our children.Let’s give them a strong foundation and a mindset of learning; so that they continue to learn, forever. I do not wish to tweak the education system. My idea of learning is to weave a hands-on, experiential, scientific mindset in our children for them to have an intellectually rich and wholesome life and to enjoy what they do..
