Hey! I'm Ashlee McLean, a junior at UNC Chapel Hill from Wake Forest, NC. (Go Heels!) I’m majoring in Communications with minors in Business through Kenan-Flagler & Entrepreneurship through the Shuford Program.My entrepreneurial journey started in 2020 when I co-founded a clothing brand, initially managing operations through wholesale channels. The following year, I created a second brand, where I took a hands-on approach with in-house production, including self-manufacturing and screen printing. However, I eventually found this work to be unfulfilling and sought a more meaningful direction.Reflecting on my childhood, I've developed a passion for promoting financial literacy — an area that wasn’t covered in my education nor home life. To address this gap, I’m working on developing an entrepreneurial project aimed at enhancing financial literacy among young adults, potentially integrating it into school curriculums.At UNC, I’m involved in the Leaders in Entrepreneurship at Carolina and the Minority Business Student Alliance. My professional experience includes management roles in the food industry, and I’m currently seeking internships and opportunities in financial advising, marketing, brand management, and other social media roles to further develop my skills. I’ve gained proficiency in tools such as Canva, Wix, Google Workspace, Adobe Creative Cloud, Python, and iMovie Video Editing. Additionally, I hold certificates in Branding, Marketing, and other key areas that are essential to my professional journey and valuable to potential employers.Outside of my academic and professional life, I have interests in roller skating, dancing, photography, and traveling. This past summer, I practiced my skating skills and am always eager to connect with fellow skaters. I was also part of the UNC Kamikazi dance club during my freshman year and now focus on creating choreography and attending dance workshops. Lastly, my travels have taken me to Barbados, Jamaica, Mexico, Spain, the Dominican Republic, and Puerto Rico (my favorite). Next on my list are Columbia in 2025 and hopefully another destination through a study abroad program!Let’s connect!
