I'm a licensed, clinical psychologist and certified HSPP via the National Register of Health Service Psychologists. As a behavioral medicine specialist, within the inpatient consultation liaison psychiatry team, I work with medically complex patients who need assistance adjusting to new medical diagnoses, invasive medical treatments, with injury trauma, coping with illness and prolonged hospitalization. In the outpatient setting, I also provide clinical and pre-surgical evaluation services for people with insomnia, chronic pain and SCS candidates, health behavior change for Bariatric WLS, and transplant candidates. I’m clinical faculty within the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine, at ECU’s Brody School of Medicine. I'm interested and invested in medical education and clinical training/supervision for residents, medical students and psychology trainees (interns and postdoc fellows). _____________________________________________________Clinical and Research interests include: • alternative metrics for obesity & bmi in Bariatric surgery population;• role of health/medical literacy in clinical outcomes and risk for readmission,• gender and race-related health disparities, • psychosocial impact of headache disorders and chronic pain on QOL; • complementary and alternative treatments of chronic pain and behavioral pain management;• pre-surgical QOL and social support on post-surgical outcomes, particularly in transplant populations.
