Grammar nerd.I am a writer at my core who has spent the last 15 years working in various communications roles across industries, including technology, healthcare, and education. I love to translate complex information into something digestible by the average person – be it a new advancement in healthcare or a technical problem that needs to be solved.I started my career in journalism – asking tough questions, reporting on interesting situations, and learning how to build a narrative. Over time, my career has shifted to be more communications and project management focused, building and implementing communications plans and strategies, and executing on those plans. I have worked closely with executives and leaders at Microsoft and the University of Washington to improve organizational communications, solve communications problems, and build consensus and connection among organizations by utilizing communications channels. Throughout my work in communications, writing remains my passion and a key part of what makes me a strong communications manager. I am also a skilled project manager, consultant, and lifelong learner, completing a new certificate program in Storyteling and Content Strategy in August 2023 and a UX writing program in 2022.In my personal life, I am a nature lover and passionate about enjoying the beauty of the Pacific Northwest. I also love cultivating my backyard vegetable and flower garden, and spending time with my family. I act as communications chair for the PTA at Montlake Elementary, where I am able to share my passion for communications with the school community as well.
