Ashutosh Pandit, founder of STEM Learning, is a social entrepreneur with a mission to equip every rural school with essential scientific equipment for the benefit of students. A versatile MBA graduate from one of the top management institutions in the country, Ashutosh’s journey from the corporate domain to social entrepreneurship is remarkable & inspiring. Armed with a business education, Ashutosh began his career in the hospitality industry, successfully launching two resorts. At the same time, his past experiences interacting with rural communities & seeing a lack of infrastructure & motivation on the part of students in pursuing further education bothered him. He was able to understand the shortcomings in the education sector in India: paucity of scientific infrastructure in schools & limited dissemination of practical science & mathematics related information to kids studying in schools in rural areas. While he was running his businesses, he always had a vision & motivation to do something to address these gaps in the education system prevalent in rural schools. Initially deterred by the lack of financial muscle, Ashutosh’s successful business ventures allowed him to the possibility to a new social venture. This possibility helped him to realize his dream by founding STEM Learning in 2011, a way to address his concerns & give back to society. He conceptualized STEM Learning with an aim inculcate basic concepts of science & technology at school level.Ashutosh’s efforts have helped STEM to reach out to more than 1 million students through its innovative science models & has trained more than 8000 teachers. Already science centers have been installed in 1900 schools across 23 states.STEM’s family has overseen organic growth over a period of 9 years with more than 150 corporate whose ideologies align with STEM’s vision. This family is likely to grow many folds in the near future. STEM Learning also organized National STEM Awards 2020, this was India's first STEM challenge for under-served students' from Govt. and Govt aided schools. Around 20 States, 200 Schools, 400 Teachers, and 1800 Students participated in the competition.
