Responsible for performing data entry and processing COVID samples.

As a laboratory supply room technician for the Oberlin College Chemistry Department, I oversaw the chemistry stockroom which involved logging the chemical inventory into a database, handling broken glassware and chemical spills, and having extensive knowledge of appropriate laboratory protocols. In addition, I weekly assembled the laboratory equipment and experiments for a 50-person chemistry lab.

I spent three years of my college career as a research assistant in the Oberlin College Biology Department working with Professor Taylor Allen. This pedagogical study explored creative problem-solving and design thinking in education and, more specifically, in STEM fields. A highlight of my research experience was designing and facilitating a "STEAM" Outreach Program with the Harrison Cultural Community Center to generate underprivileged students’ interest in STEM-related fields. In order to fund this service outreach program, I wrote and secured a grant from the Oberlin Bonner Center. Our research concluded in an academic paper, “Through the Lens of ‘Culture Shock’: simultaneously discerning undergraduates’ affective, behavioral, and cognitive responses to problem-/project-based learning,” which is currently is in review at CBE—Life Sciences Education.

Facilitated 10, one-hour-long sessions throughout the fall semester to 15 first-year students aimed to develop skills for student success, explore campus resources, and foster a sense of community. As a resource and mentor for these new students, I was able to help acclimate them to college life and provide a greater support system.

As a teaching assistant for a new course (BIOL60: Innovation and Design) designed to hone students' design thinking, I developed course curricula with the professor, facilitated class discussions, and guided creative problem-solving sessions. In addition, throughout the course, we worked to generate solutions to directly address the individual technical challenges employees with disabilities faced at the Plantables company.

Studied muscle function and movement and gained skills in crossing and gendering C. elegans, performing PCR, and running gel electrophoresis.

Managed a high-stress environment, acted and communicated effectively in problem-solving situations, and provided a high-quality dining experience for customers.

I assisted in running and directing a summer camp which culminated in a production of Shakespeare's romance, Pericles. The summer camp involved teaching 20 middle-schoolers the fundamentals of acting, facilitating various warm-ups and improve exercises, and casting, staging, and rehearsing the play to be performance ready in 3 short weeks.
