Roman Catholic Diocese Of Kalamazoo

This is a volunteer role. The Presence Kalamazoo is a retreat for high school students that had its inaugural retreat on February 15-17, 2013. This retreat is a 40 hour perpetual Eucharistic adoration retreat and involves between 100 and 300 youth with the hope for future growth. As Head of Finance, my primary responsibilities are to monitor, control, and sign off on all flows of monies in and out of the program's fund. We work with Hackett Catholic Central High School in this respect and are thus able to file under the school's 501(c)(3) non-profit status. This work involves fundraising, budgetary management, use of basic accounting principles, and open communications with all team members, donors, and participants.

Working as a Resident Assistant, I have four and a half hour to five and a half hour long duty nights typically twice a week where I man the RA office, make rounds about the dorm buildings, and check for compliance with rules and safety regulations. I have an office hour during the day twice a week. I am in charge of three programs for my residents each semester which are run by me with the express purpose of educating the residents in some specified area. I am on call 24/7 should a resident need to knock on my door or if there should be an emergency. I seek to enhance the livelihood of my residents while they are living in the dorms.

For a summer in high school I worked full time in the company's print lab printing blue prints ordered by the engineers working upstairs and running them to the correct location within the building. I also spent time cataloging old blue prints as well as new ones and improving the filing system used by the company. I was put in charge of printing and putting together the safety manuals that go with certain equipment. There were also times when I had to work with customers directly to verify shipments and receivables. I was hired to help the Print Lab Manager who was put in charge of testing materials within certain conveyors. Because of this, I ran the print room without assistance. There were other minor tasks that I was asked to do and that I completed to the best of my ability.
