I managed the Bing Product Ads backend organization. My organization was responsible for the end to end customer experience for onboarding and ingesting the product offer feeds from our Advertising customers. My teams collaborated with development organizations in Bellevue and Bangalore, as well as the Data Science organization in Sunnyvale, CA. Under my Engineering Leadership, my teams built the next generation pipeline that scaled from ingesting 250 Million offers daily to over 1 Billion offers daily using the same compute resources.I was one of the pioneers of the Combined Engineering model and instituted that successfully for my organization. There was no dedicated QA team and it required a very different mindset and my organization's success with Combined Engineering was used as a successful case study for DevOps and adopted across the wider Online Service Division at Microsoft.

I built and delivered the eMunching mobile apps platform for restaurant apps. We had several local restaurants being served from this platform using iOS and Android Apps.I was the Chief Architect for the Rapid Loyalty tablet based Loyalty program. This is currently in Beta and we will be lauching the product in April 2013.I built an engineering team from the ground up, trained my engineers and coach and mentor them on an ongoing basis. I'm proud to say that I have an excellent bunch of engineers working for me.As part of working in this startup environment, I've developed expertise with cloud infrastructure like Microsoft Azure, and SQL Azure.Being a small company, I have had to roll up my sleeves and write code myself on several occasions. As a result, I've developed coding expertise with ASP.Net MVC, and Entity Framework.I've also gained valuable insights with creating and presenting our company to Angel Investors and Venture Capitalists.

I led Bing Search Engine's testing efforts.I owned all the end to end user scenarios and I managed a test engineering team in Bellevue and a vendor engineering team in India.My team built a lot of the fundamental building blocks for UX automation and rolled out a new test framework.I defined and implemented the quality gates for qualifying builds and moving bits from development into production.Mundane QA proceses like reviewing project specifications, design documents, test plans, reviewing product code, automation code, driving black-box, white-box, and regression test passes were part and parcel of daily life at Bing.I built my reputation as a manager by enabling others via career mentoring and coaching and as a result I always had extremely high OHI (Overall Happiness Index) numbers.I was awarded a GoldStar for my performance at Bing by the Partner Director of Test (Todd Paul).

I successfully led the Exchange High Availability (HA) team and delivered features that include Continuous Backup (LCB), Clustering, Disaster Recovery, Dial-Tone Recovery and Database PortabilityMy team designed and implemented several automation frameworks and libraries like the UI automation framework, health check framework, data driven test framework etcI built and managed a lab of 500+ servers. I designed and implemented Topoweb which was “the tool” for building Exchange topologies for all developers & testers. The overall cost savings that resulted in Topoweb was ~ $1.5 million / yearI also helped architect and implement TopoBuilder which was Topoweb 2.0. This was an XML based task driven engine that very neatly organized tasks, their dependencies and rolled up the status of deployment to a web-portal where engineers could see the status of their topologies.
