May 2013 - August 2013• Performed research on the impact of a daily pre-operative surgical huddle on interruptions, delays, and surgeon satisfaction in orthopedics. • Organized and managed a prospective study and presented research findings to medical staff members, researchers, and colleagues. • Worked closely with the Department of Orthopedics; shadowed various physicians and medical teams in both clinical and surgical environments.April 2014 - January 2015• Expanded research from previous summer on impact of a daily pre-operative surgical huddle to include other surgical specialties. • Work resulted in surgery department-wide implementation of pre-op huddles.• First author on "The impact of a daily pre-operative surgical huddle on interruptions, delays, and surgeon satisfaction in an orthopedic operating room: a prospective study", published in the Patient Safety in Surgery journal.June 2015 - August 2015• Conducted user research with patients, surgeons, and hospital staff to analyze quality control and areas for improvement in the orthopedic patient experience.
