Attended weekly meetings at the University of Michigan, working as a part of a group to analyze gene expression of specific diseases using NCBI datasets. I gave oral presentations on Pancreatic Cancer and Covid-19 during the 2019 and 2021 miRcore research conferences, respectively, and was published in the 6th and 8th annual miRcore research conference proceedings journal. During the Genes and Health competition in 2018, I placed 2nd overall. I also worked as a leader of the GIDAS Support Committee to manage GIDAS clubs across the US. In addition, during the 2020-21 year I helped conduct RNAseq analysis through Unix and R to find differentially expressed tRNA-derived RNA fragments as a result of SARS-CoV-1 and 2 infections.

Through Pioneer Academics' Oberlin College-accredited course, I conducted individual research with Dr. Erin L. Kinnally (UC Davis Professional Researcher in Psychology) and wrote a 30-page thesis, entitled: “BDNF in Early Life Stress: The Link to Epigenetics and Opioid Addiction.” I was subsequently nominated for the 2020 Pioneer Research Journal (12% acceptance). I continue to develop communication, responsibility, and leadership skills as a part of the Alumni Ambassador program and Pioneer Alumni Council, sharing my experience and passion with current and prospective students.
