Hi! My name is Sabrina Baker and I am a recent graduate from the Walter Cronkite School at Arizona State University, where I earned a Bachelor's in Arts with a major in Journalism and Mass Communication. My choice to start my studies at ASU was largely influenced by the fact that Arizona is my birthplace. Although I was born in Scottsdale, Arizona, I spent 18 years of my life growing up in beautiful northern California before returning to my birth city. The occasional trips back to Arizona to visit family, and friends, or for vacations gradually evolved into the decision to pursue my education in the state I once called home, as it still felt like home to me.My time at the esteemed Cronkite School of Journalism allowed me to hone my skills in storytelling, media production, and digital communication. My academic journey was complemented by programs and projects that allowed me to apply my knowledge in real-world settings, further enhancing my ability to deliver compelling narratives. Through the well-rounded major of my choice, I was presented with opportunities that I never even knew existed. Having several articles published in local newspapers, spending a semester working on a project with PBS to remember the American Revolution through the use of immersive technology and programs like Unity and Spatial to perform generative AI, as well as spending another semester abroad in Paris, France to complete the art requirements of my degree, are just a few of the achievements that became a part of my repertoire during college. In addition to my academic and media-related experiences throughout college, I initially started as a host at Four Peaks Brewing Co. and have since transitioned to a serving role, which I still hold. This role helped me develop strong interpersonal and time-management skills and the ability to thrive in high-pressure environments. It also taught me the value of teamwork, customer service, and multitasking, all of which are crucial skills in any professional setting.I am passionate about using the power of media to inform, engage, and inspire audiences. My interests lie at the intersection of journalism and emerging technologies, and I am eager to explore how digital platforms can be leveraged to create impactful content.As I embark on my career, I am excited to bring my unique perspective and skill set to new opportunities, contributing to the ever-evolving landscape of journalism and mass communication.
