3rd year Biochemistry and Molecular Biology PhD Candidate in Dr. Takahisa Kanekiyo’s laboratory at Mayo Clinic Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences. My thesis work investigates senescence- mediated aging in the context of AD through the use of stem cell models.I am passionate about biomedical research and STEM education. I have studied in several labs where I have investigated " Slitrk/5 as a Gamma Secretase Substrate", "The Role of the Gut Microbiome in Establishing Individual Temperament", "16S Gene Profiling of the Gut Microbiome in Diverticulitis Patients", "The Role of Microbial Metabolism in Diverticular Disease Progression", and "The Effects of Microglia APOE Expression on Tau Pathology". My research interests include molecular neuroscience, neurodegeneration, and protein trafficking interactions,. When not in the lab, I love to mentor students through various tutoring opportunities, both within my university and the surrounding community. I also have a goal to increase the accessibility of science to poorly funded public school systems.
