I believe in the power of words to change the world. My skills in teaching, writing, research, technology, and organization allow me to connect audiences to ideas that enhance their lives. Through my experience in education, nonprofits, and conservation, I can enhance an organizations’ effectiveness and reach. My experience in instructional design ranges from youth to the elderly, from traditional classroom to virtual engagement. From my undergraduate days as a museum tour guide and tour coordinator, to teaching in a public school classroom, to adult education in a for a nonprofit, I thrive on sharing my passions with others. I can plan year-long educational frameworks, or carry out a half-hour class on a targeted skill. I have presented to live groups of 100+, and engaged students in online learning. I have successfully developed content in a variety of communication modes, from traditional to cutting-edge. I wrote two complete issues of a historical nonprofit’s quarterly monograph publication – over 100 pages of original academic research, and then presented my research at the International Congress of Medieval Studies in Kalamazoo, Michigan. In my environmental conservation work, I created animated videos and spearheaded a social media campaign. Afterwards, I analyzed social media campaign data with Excel. Other application experience include managing group projects through Google Docs, and regularly using Word, OneNote, PowerPoint and Teams in educational settings. My website for grant-seekers in Washington state supports funding for conservation nonprofits. As an intern for the Woodland Park Zoo Communications Department, I wrote four stories for the zoo’s blog and two articles for the member magazine, including taking and selecting pictures.I have managed five educational events for a nonprofit, coordinating 20+ volunteer staff per event. Detail-orientated, I developed each event with a year of step-by-step planning and teamwork. Each event provided a range of educational opportunities with strong reports of positive experiences and learning. My work, nonprofit and educational experience prepare me to enhance the effectiveness organizations working to create a healthy, just, sustainable world.
