First Contact Practitioner Physiotherapist
CurrentWorking alongside colleagues in primary care (medical centres) practices, patients with apparent or known MSK conditions are listed directly with me. My role aims to provide working diagnoses, hear their concerns, challenges and support recovery, rehabilitation and management of acute and chronic conditions. This may include requests for blood tests, X-rays and other tests. If I feel the patient needs other input or care, I can refer to colleagues in the surgery ( eg mental health, medical intervention, injections, social prescribing or pharmacy review) or the secondary care teams, ensuring appropriate work up. For those with established conditions, I can provide support with understanding that condition (particularly persistent pain), how to take control and who to reach out to. I supervise physiotherapy students and GP trainees as well as provide observation sessions for other colleagues. I have recently updated clinical skills to assure my competence at level 7, in examine and differentiating MSK and other, non-MSK conditions
