Clients included: a global telemedicine company, a global fiber optic undersea communications cable venture, a nationwide telecommunications network venture, a wireless telephone provider, a wireless technology company, the telecoms marketing division of a major accounting and consulting firm, and a marketing firm whose clients included technology companies. The most common need among all these clients was that they wished to build their identity in order to support marketing, financing, business development or policy goals. With the exception of my work for the accounting firm, where I wrote articles for its quarterly journal, I helped these companies to reach their goals by creating a strategic plan, which included the setting of key messages, identification of key audiences, suggested activities, a timeline and a budget. In most cases, I was asked to then implement the approved plan. In most cases, my clients held the position of chairman and chief executive officer, and/or the marketing vice president.

Responsibilities• Formulate/direct global communications strategy for global business development efforts. • Diirect all marketing communications activities for FLAG - the Fiberoptic Link Around the Globe - a US$1.5 billion undersea telecommunications cable. • Advise Vice Chairman and Chief Financial Officer (formerly Vice Chairman, NYNEX) on leadership activities.• Speechwriter for Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer.Major Activities• Developed/directed international relations and marketing communications strategy for FLAG – the Fiberoptic Link Around the Globe. The strategy was directed towards creating awareness of FLAG among communications carriers around the world. It involved doing business in over 50 countries around the world.• Served as Bell Atlantic’s key liaison with Asia Society, Council on Foreign Relations, Intelevent, World Economic Forum, International Telecommunications Union (ITU), an arm of the United Nations.• Positioned Bell Atlantic Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer on leadership activities with leading national and international decision makers. • Served as member of ITU’s Telecom ’95 Steering Committee, appointed by Secretary General.• Formulated NYNEX”s message and directed its presence at Telecom ’95, world’s largest and most prestigious telecommunications trade show and conference, held every four years in Geneva.• Recommended and directed company’s first international philanthropic sponsorships, including Lincoln Center’s Mostly Mozart Festival in Japan.• Directed and created positioning meetings, press briefings, sales meetings and events in Singapore, Bangkok, Penang, Taijan (Korea), Geneva, Tokyo, Munich, London, Madrid, Hong Kong, Cairo, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Cannes, among others.
