Sunnylands is a bipartisan center for international relations that convenes confidential retreats for high-level government officials, business and community leaders, and prominent experts from around the world to advance solutions to domestic and global challenges. Summary of responsibilities include:• Oversaw programs within the Trust’s primary areas of focus, including global cooperation and strengthening democratic institutions, with lead responsibility for California-specific initiatives• Designed and facilitated high-level workshops and convenings, including identifying and coordinating partner organizations to draft and execute outcome-oriented agendas for thought leaders and influencers to find solutions to pressing domestic and global challenges• Managed internal and external communications, prepared materials and presented analysis briefings, strategy, and programmatic review for stakeholders, including strategic partners, Trust president, governing board, and front-line staff and contractors• Coordinated compliance with policies, processes, standards, and systems across multiple departments and supervised operational and administrative staff• Refined Trust branding and messaging in partnership with a leadership working group; collaborated in the drafting and designing of brochures, pitch decks, and new website• Assessed internal and external requirements, conducted research and wrote the first operations and procedural manual governing visits by the U.S. president and heads of state

Identified and managed high-priority initiatives to advance mayoral priorities as part of the legal counsel team under the leadership of nationally renowned civil rights attorney. Highlights include:• Increased employee and stakeholder engagement as part of a four-member taskforce which sped up implementation of $611 million in federal economic stimulus funding and increased transparency and accountability• Developed an interactive geographic information system and website and new progress bulletin to highlight measurable successes for publication to city council and 40,000 employees, as well as the public• Directed the effort to create and execute the mayor’s expanded ethics program for city employees across more than 40 departments and governing boards that significantly increased officials’ compliance• Served as a diversity advisor to recruit highest-level business and community leaders with the Council to the Mayor for political appointment to 400+ board and commission positions• Researched and drafted policy recommendations, legislation, mayoral directives and contracts, and reviewed departmental budgets for consistency with mayoral priorities• Partnered with the chief of staff to establish the Mayor’s Office of Strategic Partnerships, designed to facilitate collaboration between the City of Los Angeles and the philanthropic and nonprofit communities• Briefed senior-level appointees and delivered presentations on governmental ethics, conflicts of interests, and municipal lobbying restrictions as ethics analyst in the Office of Counsel to the Mayor

Managed client relations and oversaw the division responsible for campaign finance, governmental ethics and lobbyist reporting for more than 90 federal, state, and local elected officials, candidates, lobbyists, labor unions, and political committees. Supervised division work and prepared statements and required reports meeting legal standards under extremely tight deadlines

• Developed the organization’s first communications plan and press office, under extremely tight budgetary constraints, with comprehensive internal and external strategies, to meet the organization’s mission to educate and inform diverse audiences on ethics laws• Wrote and designed all materials and legal advisories for ethics education and training for over 5,000 employees across the city, with presentations tailored to individual departments and audiences• Drafted and lobbied for legislation that streamlined regulation decreasing bureaucratic program cost by almost 50% while contributing to a 40% increase in meaningful compliance with ethics laws
