After a period as a maintenance technician I had the opportunity to put the experience into practice. I was busy with several RCA's/FMECA's and preparing modifications from recent RCA's/FMECA's to reduce maintenance costs.Goal is to put the technicians were they are at their best: between the machines, listening, seeing and smelling the condition of their park, accompanied by a inspection list or overseeing their inspectors and mechanics. To reach this level they should be supported with complete workorders from their own maintenance plans (validated on FMECA). To optimise the follow up from inspections their should be a set of tasklists (again derived from the maintenance concept). The orders/takslist should also be in perfect harmony with the ruling workflow to minimise errors/double preparation.How to reach these goals: just do it. When the team is ready for this it isn't so hard. When the team is plaqued with daily malfunctions/errors it can also succeed, perhaps not so fast but if the team really wants they will succeed.During my job as a maintenance consultant I delivered risk based maintenance concepts optimised to reduce cost and meet the desired availability/reliability. Today I use this experience in my maintenance engineering job to deliver complete solutions for e.g. failure reduction. In order to prevent root causes from recurring the preventive actions are secured in a preventive maintenance plan and if necessary supplied with a functional tasklist. Show less

I'm combining the maintenance engineer role with a maintenance technician. This means: be effective as hell. Think about your optimal maintenance strategy and implement them right away. One disadvantage, it's very time consuming
