An experienced Consultant Paediatric Surgeon with high level expertise in neonatal surgery, colorectal surgery and short bowel syndrome. In addition has expertise in management of health care systems, health care policy and health care finance. Has lectured internationally including the Middle East, the UK and the USA. Has set up successful national services in paediatric surgery in the Middle East and held leadership positions in the UK both as a clinician and as a representative for doctors. Academically has held Honorary Senior Lecturer positions in the University of Manchester (Paediatric Surgery) and the University of Salford (Public Health). Previously held the position of the Regional Professional Specialty Advisor for Paediatric Surgery (North West of England) for the Royal college of Surgeons of England.
