Both as an architect and a modelmaker, my goal is to create storytelling sculptures that bring artists and architects’ visions to life. The area in-between the craft of architecture model making, the sculpting of natural materials and digital fabrication is where I operate. My experience as an architect has given me the technical knowledge and opportunity to collaborate with project and building teams that are crucial to bridge this gap.Graduated from the Faculty of Architecture in the University of Lisbon, I utilised this base to work as a designer at BETA office and MORE Architecture (Amsterdam); and subsequently as a Project Leader at V8 Architects (Rotterdam) where I participated in designs at different stages and programs, with a focus on technical and building phases. Now as the founder of Studio Basic my intentions are to use my passion for crafting and creating in a joyful and essential part of designing. Creativity, Innovation, Precision and Research are the guiding principles of my work.In short, the future of designing is about going back, to Basic.
