I am a young professional who is passionate about cross-cultural communication, education, and citizen diplomacy. I work as a Senior Program Associate for World Learning, implementing the Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program, which gives me the opportunity to meet passionate individuals from all around the world and connect them with relevant experts and resources in the US. My favorite part of my position is the opportunity to learn about every topic under the sun, from peace and security to human and civil rights to environmental conservation, all from experts from a variety of cultural backgrounds.I also serve as the co-chair of World Learning's Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Access + Committee, working with colleagues across World Learning teams to develop programming and content that celebrates that many intersectional identities that make up our organization. Additionally, I am a member of the Global Ties US DEIA working group, where colleagues from across the network come together to help make the implementation of the IVLP intentionally diverse, inclusive, equitable, and accessible. As a “side hustle” I work with the tutoring company Ringle, offering English language tutoring, resume and interview advice, and writing articles related to English language learning and current events. My content focuses on a culturally-responsive approach to English teaching that values communication skills in all contexts and moves away from teaching that there is one correct way to speak a language. In my free time, I co-teach an English class at the Washington English Center and tutor adults in conversational English skills. As a global education professional, I am constantly exposed to new perspectives and experiences. I am committed to continuing to grow and to learn, and to discovering how to be an empathetic and intentional global citizen.
