DevOps Engineer - Big Data Analytics & Cloud infrastructure - Federal

All things AI, AWS mainly, but solving problems in the areas that are most confusing for humans. Trying to connect machine learning with human learning. Big Data, Little Data, No Data, Data Lake; all those buzzwords that make us employable.

AWS and automation and leadership and changing the world. What's not to like?

AWS build and deploy using chef, jenkins, p4, git, ruby, etc and so on. AWS Certified, and certified trail shredder.Also Service Delivery dude with hosting and platform duties to help get services up and running so Intuit could generate revenue.

Started out as one of the initial dudes and learned a ton. Helped grow the Data Center operations staff from one (me) to a few more. Gained a deep understanding of how Platform as a Service can be delivered. Worked with possibly the smartest people on the planet for a few years. Epic work.

Started out as Unix system admin and ended up in the Development organization supporting the team with wizard like skills. Build, compile, run, troubleshoot, you name it, I could do it. Worked with customers and did some performance work and some special projects. What a ride. DBA, check, MVS - check, *nix - check, scripting, tools work, check check check.

Basic IT support for remote office as well as some basic Unix administration. Learned how to configure Solaris systems and keep an eye on NFS partitions. All while keeping the local LAN happy. I learned how to make my own ethernet cables at this fine establishment and learned how to get a T1 line set up. Good times with Alex E. - taught me most of what I know about a lot of stuff.

Started in the retail bay and drove a van from SD to Ventura and learned to love talk radio and customer service. Had the route dialed, and was willing to suffer in traffic to get a customer delivery to the right store on time. Created a newsletter controversy with my satire, and learned how to network computers and inventory systems at this fine establishment. Learned what it means to be passionate about customers and what "customer for life" really means. Worked with some of the most passionate, dedicated humans at this place. Adventure 16 was and is literally ahead of the times. Learned who George Hayduke is and learned to really love the outdoors here. Really and truly one of the best jobs I have ever had.
