My desire is not only to teach children, but to expose them to the wonders of education. I want students to walk into my room knowing that creativity will not be thwarted, but encouraged, that there is not always just one answer, and that they can have their own opinion in a respectful way. In my dream classroom, students will be heard, they will be respected, and they will be excited to learn something new. I want to be a teacher that makes all of that possible through differentiating for all learners, creating activities that allow multiple intelligences to be successful and to experience flow, and to create a safe space for students who may have more consistency at school than they do anywhere else.Through my experience at Bethel University, I have had the opportunity to learn in many different types of classrooms in which I have been able to get practice in using Responsive Classroom, Love and Logic, and the Envoy Method. I have also become familiar with using learning targets in the classroom in accordance with MN State Standards.
