I'm an experienced museums and public engagement professional. Working in the sector for 15 years I've delivered large exhibitions, new gallery spaces, created brand-new programmes and developed audiences. I've learned a lot (and made mistakes!) and I am passionate about sharing this experience with others to create new opportunities, meaningful connections, and experiences that make an impact. I am experienced at working across all RIBA design stages and have a background in exhibition management as well as curation. I can support on particular packages of work, or take hold of the whole project depending on your needs.InterpretationWorking out the right approaches to sharing your stories and collections to connect with your target audiences is one of the biggest challenges. I can work with you to devise an interpretation strategy that works for where you are and where you want to head.Public EventsI can support you to devise approaches to public programming, from repeat activities and seasons to one-off events. I am experienced in creating programmes from scratch, building audience engagement and repeat interactions.

I'm responsible for creating a diverse, dynamic and engaging public programme that enables everyone to explore genomic science and its impact on research, health, and society. Working with public engagement colleagues, with researchers and community collaborators, we create a programme that's open, informal and gives space for conversations to happen.

I develop and evaluate the Wellcome Genome Campus’ public experiences, delivered through exhibitions and events programming. I devise, and advise on, interpretation approaches that engage a wide range of audiences. I'm responsible for the monitoring and evaluation frameworks and reporting of our public interactions.

I joined the Wellcome Genome Campus Public Engagement team in the new role of Exhibition Curator to create and deliver a new exhibition space for the campus and shape a rolling programme of inspiring exhibitions and associated events. The space marked its first anniversary in October 2016 and the focus of my role now is to build on this first year of programming to broaden the audience and reach of the Public Engagement strategy and help shape our broader strategy for cultural engagement. To achieve this I work closely with my Public Engagement colleagues, the Director of Connecting Science, and researchers across campus to translate the science, history and social implications of genomics research into engaging and informative exhibitions. My core responsibilities are:Working with artists, designers and other collaborators to produce engaging works and exhibits.In conjunction with the Head of Public Engagement agree exhibition budgets, develop and issue exhibition documentation, contracting collaborators and purchasing works.Taking responsibility for the day-to-day management of the delivery of exhibits including planning, installation, maintenance and de-installation, co-ordination and liaison with consultants and contractors.Organising loans, including negotiating terms, conservation, display, transport, etc. Ensuring that all necessary records are in place and, where appropriate, adherence to regulations related to public exhibition.Using social media and seeking other promotional opportunities to give a stronger presence and profile for the work of Wellcome Genome Campus Public Engagement.

• Delivering a rolling programme of major and smaller exhibitions across two museums, from exhibition concept to opening and operational maintenance, with project budgets of £1k to £600k.• Sherlock Holmes, 2014: working with the Major Exhibitions Manager my final project at the Museum was the major exhibition, Sherlock Holmes, which opened in October 2014. I managed the creative requirements and budget for the software production of the exhibition’s audio-visual exhibits. I coordinated the content group to devise, research and manage the exhibition content and interpretation approach. Working with the Exhibition Curator I devised the text hierarchy and outline and managed the text approvals process. I coordinated the work of curators, conservators, designers and technicians to ensure that the vision for an exciting, dynamic and engaging exhibition was realised. • Doctors, Dissection and Resurrection Men, 2012: this major exhibition presented new archaeological and osteological finds; revealing and exploring London’s medical past and issues of medical ethics. My role was to utilise a variety of interpretation methods and exhibition design to ensure that a general audience could successfully engage with this complex subject. Displaying human remains meant that the interpretation and design needed to conform to the museum’s human remains policy and the Human Tissue Act.• I have been the lead project manager on many exhibitions and displays across a wide variety of subjects and content. These have included commissioning new artworks and installations, negotiating loans and working with external partners and community engagement.

• I managed the work flow of in-house graphic designers and commissioned work from external designers.• I was responsible for museum display maintenance, and prioritised tasks in terms of the impact on the gallery and visitor experience and the budget required.• I managed the delivery of complex graphics projects such as the annual schools brochures; coordinating inter-department work and ensuring delivery to a strict deadline.• I monitored and advised on department budgets, maintained the ledger and prioritised budget allocations and spending decisions.

• I devised and convened a ten-week undergraduate course on London History, taught across both the autumn and spring terms, with an additional short course taught in the summer term specifically for visiting students. • The survey course offered a dynamic overview of social and cultural history of London from the 1500s to 1945, including the social history of medicine.• The course introduced students to different methodologies, particularly using material and visual culture, archival research and the urban environment.• I was responsible for setting, supporting and grading the 3000 word essay assessments submitted by course participants.

• I supported the Exhibitions Project Manager to deliver exhibitions on time and to budget and working within the approved project methodology• I had responsibility for discrete packages of work within the exhibition/display projects• I drafted creative briefs and managed the work of external designers and contractors• I oversaw project procurement and tendering, inputting to the project ledger and processing purchase orders and invoices• I managed contractors on site and coordinated/authorised site supervision, and H&S approvals

Providing a welcoming, engaging experience to visitors - from the front desk to within the collections and the children's gallery. Leading guided gallery tours, as well as a training programme to upskill other Visitor Assistants to lead their own tours. Supporting school visits to the museum.
