About Becky Lyttle

You know how some people don't like to swim in open water because they can't see the bottom? That's never been me. I'm the person who sees a hole and steps in to fix it, even if I have no idea how deep the hole is or if a playbook exists for how to repair it. A few examples: - When working for the Armed Forces Recreation Center, I learned to teach sailing because they wanted a female instructor. I said, "Sign me up." (I had never sailed a day in my life prior).- When I moved to Utah, I had one goal - I would be involved with the 2002 Olympics. I ended up managing the US Snowboard Team and building the competition pipeline. I knew nothing about halfpipe, judging or parallel giant slalom, but spent hours staffing the start gates, working in the timing shack, studying under the race secretaries, and listening to coaches, athletes and parents. I built a committee that created a new path from grassroots to elite level snowboarding, and, in the process, became the youngest female FIS certified Technical Delegate in the US. I also got to be frontline at the 2002 and 2006 Olympic games to cheer as my teams won 12 medals. - When I was recruited to lead the fundraising efforts for the Utah-Southern Idaho Chapter of the MS Society, I knew nothing about multiple sclerosis or 100-mile bike rides. So I formed a team and fundraised alongside everyone else so that I understood and could relate to the job we were asking people to do. I spent hours with supporters to learn their motivations and stories. Over those 7 years, not only did our chapter exceed goals, but I personally raised over $20,000 as an individual and received one of the best compliments of my life from a participant: "You made us feel valued, not just another number."- When I decided to reinvent my career, I spent months networking and researching until I worked my way to a meeting with the COO at a marketing technology company, ExpertVoice. Six years later, I lead a department that didn't exist when I joined the company and I continue to build the plane while flying it every day. And I love every minute of it.- My husband and I bought Tea Zaanti and renovated a historic home to create Salt Lake’s only tea and wine cafe. Another journey where we figured it out as we went. I'm a huge believer in providing opportunities to people with aptitude and attitude. I'm a fan of people who can see where we need to go and aren't afraid that there isn't a road built yet to get there. And if you're only mission is to leave things better than you found them, well, we'll probably get along just fine.
