About Rebecca Mackenzie

Rebecca MacKenzie has been advocating her whole life. When she was in fourth grade, she wrote a letter to her District Attorney asking why her neighborhood was so crime ridden and what she could do to help. When she received a written response, she knew her voice was heard and never stopped asking questions. She began her career traveling to hurricane damaged areas, guiding individuals through the insurance claims process and helping them prepare for state mediations. She provided support through the rebuilding process of their homes and their lives.She she worked in Community Support Services at Goodwill Industries of Southwest Florida, helping people with disabilities and disadvantages by providing direct support to adults with disabilities in person centered classes focused on life skills, and managed a MicroEnterprise program, which helping aspiring entrepreneurs with disadvantages and disabilities reach their peak potential. She was the Director of overseeing the administration and implementation of programs for older adults and adults with disabilities that are funded through state and federal revenue sources for four years. She is currently a Waiver Support Coordinator. In this role, she advocates and helps people with disabilities make their own choices through person centered services. As a young adult directly affected by cancer, she took action. She runs to raise money for research funds and has volunteered with the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network as an ACT! Lead for the 19th Congressional District of Florida, educating the public about legislative initiatives in the cancer community and serving as a key contact for legislators in her State and Federal districts.Rebecca has a BA in Political Science from the University of Central Florida.
