I founded Airspeed, a signal processing technology startup in 2018. The company develops state-of-the-art passive acoustic sensing systems which uses Edge Computing and Machine Learning methods to detect, track and identify targets for defence and security applications. The primary application is for detecting small drones and other air targets. We have received substantial R&D grants from UK MoD, and have US & UK Patents pending. Electronic hardware design for missile systems

A 'side-hustle' whilst working full time at MBDA... This was training for starting my own engineering firm (AIRSPEED). Forget about MBAs. Doing it for real is the best business apprenticeship you will ever get - winning business, contracts, tax, marketing, finance, planning, business strategy... I spent evenings and weekends helping a client develop a modular CANbus control system for phased array antenna systems for aircraft SATCOM antennas.

I was part of a joint US-UK team developing concept systems architectures for a Transatlantic Ballistic Missile Defence System. I used DoDAF and MoDAF architecture frameworks to specify command and control system architectures. We also conducted real-time US-UK wargaming simulation trials to test it out.

I was part of an R&D team working on some of the company’s early system level concepts for Integrated Modular Avionics (IMA).
