Analyst at Canalys, a leading global technology market intelligence firm. Based in Reading, UK, I work as part of the EMEA channels research team, and I specialize in sustainability in the IT sector. My work covers many of the crucial topics in IT sustainability, including the circular economy, decarbonizing supply chains, product sustainability data, governmental regulations, and corporate ESG strategies. I graduated from the University of Reading in 2021 with a First-Class degree in Human Geography. My studies covered corporate social responsibility, global governments' responses to the climate crisis, water politics, and energy security. I briefly worked in conservation while I was a student, and later spent a year in copywriting and proofreading prior to joining the Canalys team.

Senior Analyst
Analyst
In my role as Analyst, I contribute to our Sustainable Ecosystem Analysis service, delivering the latest channel and IT sustainability insights to our clients and partner community. Working as part of the global channels team, I regularly engage with partners and vendors to discuss how sustainability and ESG shape the direction of their businesses in the era of the climate crisis. Some focus areas of my research include:- The barriers to achieving a truly circular economy for the IT sector- AI's environmental impacts, both in terms of opportunities and resource intensity-linked risks- The global ESG regulatory landscape and its increasing complexity
Research Analyst
I worked as a Research Analyst as part of Canalys’ EMEA channels team until April 2024. With a focus on sustainability, I supported our research into emerging trends and issues in global technology markets. This includes the circular economy, sustainability reporting and ESG regulations.
Editorial Assistant
I was the primary writer of content for clients, including blogs, web pages, and social media posts. By following briefs from clients, including higher education establishments, charities, and service providers, I wrote competently for a range of purposes and audiences. This usually involved finding the perfect tone of voice for specific contexts and adhering to this throughout my writing. In much of the content I produced, I embed SEO-friendly keywords into the copy by using tools such as Ahrefs. In addition to writing and researching the content WMS produced, I also worked as a project editor. This involved delivering content to some clients and maintaining communications with them to discuss project timelines and edits. I also took on the role of line manager for new recruits to the company. I organised and delivered training sessions and regular 1-2-1 meetings over Zoom to support new staff and introduce them to copywriting.
Junior Content Creator/Copywriter Intern
Before being offered a permanent role at the company, I worked as an intern at Write My Site. During this period, I quickly adapted to the world of copywriting and learnt to write with readability and accessibility in mind. With the guidance of experienced copyeditors, I started by reworking dozens of detailed web pages for a major combined authority client. As an intern, I later learnt to write compelling and accessible blogs and social media posts for the agency and our clients.
Student Partner
In this temporary role, I worked alongside lecturers and senior staff in the Geography and Environmental Science department to prepare academic materials for online learning. My job was to check through module content to identify where it needed to be edited and re-worked to facilitate remote learning, as necessitated by the COVID-19 pandemic. In this entirely remote position, I used MS Teams and Outlook to establish a professional working dynamic with staff. After thoroughly working through the learning materials (such as assignment briefs and module handbooks), I expressed and justified my recommendations in detailed reports for lecturers. This role was an excellent opportunity to further develop my remote working skills, and I also developed my ability to work with colleagues across the hierarchy of an organisation. In this case, I simultaneously consulted students, lecturers, and heads of department to understand their concerns and requirements for a successful online learning experience.
Community Engagement Intern
As the Community Engagement Intern at TCV Berkshire, I completed on-site and office-based work in the environmental sector. In this role, I undertook a variety of tasks and responsibilities to support TCV's invaluable conservation work in the wider Reading area. The workload was varied, but it notably included developing visual resources, managing biodiversity records in Excel, and reaching out to local clients about opportunities with TCV. While interning at The Conservation Volunteers, I took part in a variety of practical activities which worked to maintain and improve green spaces; this often involved building paths and steps, planting trees, or removing invasive species to foster biodiversity. These on-site activities were an opportunity to apply my interpersonal skills by working with volunteers, new and regular, to highlight the ecological and social importance of conservation work. I maintained regular communication between TCV Berkshire and its volunteers by organising their email addresses and contributing to TCV's weekly newsletters. When the COVID-19 pandemic forced my colleagues and me to work remotely, my workload became entirely desk-based. I quickly became capable in using Microsoft Teams and Outlook, as well as video conferencing, to maintain close communication with my co-workers. While working from home, I completed extensive spreadsheet work in Excel to record biodiversity across sites in Berkshire; I later worked to discuss and visualise this data in formal reports written for TCV's benefactors. This experience at TCV was a valuable opportunity for me to apply my academic knowledge of sustainability and environmental management to a professional context. I undertook this internship during my busiest academic period at university, and it was a valuable opportunity to enhance my time management skills by balancing my academic and professional commitments efficiently.
