As the Head of Relations and Member Acquisition at the Study Abroad Student Society at the University of Auckland, I am responsible for fostering strong relationships between international students and the university community. Since joining the society in February as an exchange student from San Diego State University, I have spearheaded initiatives to enhance member engagement, increase student participation, and promote cultural exchange.Key responsibilities include:- Developing and implementing strategic plans to recruit new members- Collaborating with other executive members to organize events and activities that promote inclusivity and cultural awareness- Collaborating with university departments and external organizations to strengthen partnerships- Managing communication channels to ensure consistent and effective outreach to studentsMy role is instrumental in creating a welcoming environment for all international students, helping them to integrate smoothly into university life while enriching their study abroad experience.

Worked as a host and food expeditor at a fine dining restaurant and winery. Learned extensive food information including all ingredients and handling techniques, served and explained each dish in compliance with restaurant guidelines in order to create a welcoming and satisfying customer experience. Learned Touch Bistro and Open Table software in order to create seating plans each day, creating a smooth flow for maximum restaurant efficiency. Made reservations and deescalated situations in which customers were dissatisfied, and made lasting connections with restaurant owners, coworkers, and customers.

Completed extensive training in the area of mental health, totaling over 120 hours, in order to receive certification to work call lines at Lines For Life, YouthLine. Answered calls, texts, and online chats regarding various problems, from family issues to people considering suicide. Learned how to de-escalate situations and comfort young people who reached out to YouthLine, as well as the necessary steps to take when someone was in danger. Handled intense and emotional situations with little assistance from supervisors and assisted other newer call workers as a Shift Lead. Comforted people who were struggling with the impact of COVID-19 as the Pandemic began and escalated. Worked 4 or 8-hour shifts three days a week while attending high school.

Worked as a sterilization technician at a family dental practice near my high school with the intention of learning about dentistry under the very talented Dr. Matt Roane. Learned how to sterilize all dental instruments using, dental ultrasonic cleaners, autoclave machines, medical-grade dryers, and medical-grade wrapping. Prepared operating rooms for patients, applied plastic covering to all commonly touched surfaces, displayed correct instruments for dentists, turned on and handled X-Ray machines, and properly cleaned and sanitized rooms post-operation. Assisted hygienists in dental cleaning, observed several procedures, including veneer application and wisdom teeth removal from consultation to completion, and talked with patients during the waiting period in an operating room.
