About Benjamin Campbell
After starting my career as a Laser Engineer at the Penn State Electro-Optics Center, I made a change in Fall 2011 and joined the faculty ranks at Robert Morris University in their Engineering Department. I had been supporting their biomedical engineering program, but now am helping to establish a mechatronics program. I teach undergraduate courses in electronics and engineering physics and graduate courses in engineering management. Currently my research involves using lasers to weld plastics. In 2010 I helped create the PGSS Campaign, a non-profit that restored the defunded PA Governor's School for the Sciences in 2013 and has raised the funding necessary to keep the annual 5-week residential summer program for high achieving high school students running ever since. In its first 10 years of operation, the non-profit has raised over $2M and served over 500 students. Specialties: Lasers for welding plastics, Ultrashort pulse laser micromachining, laser cutting, drilling, etching. and welding, advanced programming with G-code for Aerotech systems, education and training.
Listed skills include Research, Engineering, Teaching, Laser Cutting, and 4 others.
