In my current role as an Environmental Scientist at Egis (formerly McIntosh Perry), I specialize in contaminated sites, hydrogeology, and landfill monitoring, seeing projects through from proposal to completion. I am committed to achieving project goals while delivering exceptional service to clients. In my daily work, I generally fill a jack-of-all-trades role. I employ various field methods including soil, air and groundwater sample collection, soil identification and classification, the collection of field parameters and environmental site surveying. My expertise extends to hydrogeological and terrain analyses, Phase I/One ESAs, Assessments of Past Uses (APUs), waste disposal site monitoring and designated substance surveys. My work has taken me throughout Ontario and Québec, including remote northern environments, where I have been able to apply my skills to address complex environmental challenges.

At Greenough Environmental, I took on the role of an Environmental Technician specializing in Hazardous Materials. I routinely conducted Designated Substance Surveys and Reports (DSRs), Bulk Sample Analyses, Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) Surveys, Radon Gas Testing, Waste Auditing, Potable Water Surveys and Phase Contrast Microscopy (PCM) laboratory analysis. In my day-to-day work, I performed site inspections to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, sampled potential hazardous materials, wrote and issued reports, prepared homeowner quotes, communicated with stakeholders and clients, and carried out laboratory duties.My goal was to help mitigate risk to human health and the surrounding environment.

As a teaching assistant, my roles included instructing students in the classroom weekly, grading tests, exams, papers, and other submissions, proctoring and contributing changes to tutorial design.Over two semesters, I taught introductory geographic concepts, environmental issues and urban planning. This was accomplished in the heart of the COVID-19 pandemic and helped me develop expertise in online learning platforms including Zoom and MS Teams. I was able to help students succeed in their classes and provided support and advice both over video and by email. In addition to this, I also supported my fellow TAs by acting as a moderator in their lectures.

As a horticulture helper for the City of Ottawa, I was given several tasks to accomplish each week, including cutting grass, brush trimming, painting, construction and more. Jobs were typically completed working alongside a crew of fellow summer students. I worked most days outdoors and routinely operated small equipment.During my time at the city, I took an interest in our invasive wild parsnip issue. I set a personal goal to raise awareness of the dangers of wild parsnip and limit its propagation in a non-hazardous way (without the use of harmful pesticides). I believe I achieved this goal by aiding with brush cutting efforts, organic spraying and sign postage meant to indicate that parsnip was nearby.
