Responsible for enforcing and upholding city ordinances and codes within all municipal parks and wildlife recreation areas within the city of Mountain View. Work alongside city biologists to plan conservation efforts and projects within the parks open spaces such as Shoreline. Internship where I provided aid to full time ranger staff in varieties of semi skilled and skilled duties involving maintenance and interpretive aide to visitors throughout 4,000 acres of SLO’s open spaces. Duties involved botany surveys, trail creation and surveying, tree maintenance and pruning, and other duties such as fuel reduction and flood control. Would perform other maintenance duties involving various machinery and gas powered engines (chainsaws, weed trimmers, DR Mowers, towing wood chippers) and would perform maintenance on gas-powered equipment. Would do trailhead checks regularly to ensure visitors are agreeing to open space guidelines. Do regular maintenance and organization of trailhead kiosks and dog waste stations. Would provide interpretativeaide for hikers or educate them and answer questions regarding rules, botany in the area, or other facts of open spaces and trail systems.

The job duties ranged from hands on maintenance work such as minor carpentry and landscape maintenance with small power tools and machinery (chainsaws, power drills, and weed trimmers). Also provided administrative aid such as bookkeeping, camp check ins, annual park permits issuing and keeping inventory of all passes issued. Would patrol campgrounds/lake/docks, enforce camp rules and educate campers. Provided interpretative assistance and information to visitors

Conducts fuel management and reduction operations in urban woodland interfaces to reduce fuel loads and severity of wildfires. Assisted with Winter Evening Hiking access program where certain open spaces had special hours. Would patrol open spaces and educate hikers on the program and address any questions.
