Common Defense is the largest grassroots movement of US military veterans. I provide strategic fundraising and growth advice. My work has helped raise funding for grassroots campaigns for voting rights, progressive foreign policy, immigrant rights, and climate justice, including local and state implementation of the Inflation Reduction Act.

Led all fundraising efforts for this global forensic human rights team that applies forensic sciences to investigate human rights violations on five continents. Led leadership through the Audacious Project process, from initial inquiry through 8-figure award.A major program is the Border Project, a transnational forensic system that involved civil society and government in identifying the remains of missing migrants in the Americas and North Africa and enabling their families to pursue justice.

I led the fundraising of this nonprofit startup, grew its operating budget by more than 5x, and helped dramatically scale its work across New York City and the San Francisco Bay Area.

I managed institutional giving at this research and policy think tank focused on sexual and reproductive health and rights

A social justice technology platform that rated NYC landlords according to government data showing their compliance or violation of local housing code. By empowering renters to avoid delinquent landlords, we were holding them accountable to the existing market and reducing the damage confronted every day by traditional tenant advocates and grassroots organizers.

I managed foundation and government funding as well as other fundraising efforts. This includes aiding a $31 million capital campaign, designing and securing several competitive grants from the National Endowment for the Humanities, and landing funding from groundbreaking public programs and information resources from prestigious private donors in library science and the humanities.
