As a Director and co-leader of Atelier Ten's largest US based office in New York City, Ben has extensive experience in sustainability consulting, masterplanning, urban ecology, and green development projects. In addition to leading the firm's US Benchmarking and Planning practices, he has consulted for a wide range of projects and clients including: Battery Park City Authority, Smithsonian Institute, Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital, Museum of the American Revolution, Newark Airport/ Port Authority of NY/NJ, NYU Langone Medical Center, Cornell University, Duke University, Harvard Business School, Harvard Law School, MIT, New York Presbyterian, Northwell Health, Northwestern University, NYU, Princeton University, Yale University, and the Theatre for a New Audience. Ben was proud to have been named a recipient of ENR New York's 2015 Top 20 Under 40 rising stars award, which is given to those making a positive impact on the design and construction industry throughout the tri-state region.

Co-instructor of a technology course, "The Intersection of Sustainable Architecture and Infrastructure Planning" within Cornell University's College of Architecture, Art & Planning.

Co-instructor for graduate level "Systems Integration" course which focused on helping students detail technical building systems and strategies into a semester long building project. My role included delivering lectures, providing students with technical feedback their projects, and participating in multiple design critique reviews.

While at Battle McCarthy, Ben focused on implementing innovative approaches to sustainable building design. Specifically he managed a $1.5 million sustainable masterplanning effort for the main National Institutes of Health (NIH) campus in Bethesda, Maryland. He also collaborated on the Interdisciplinary Bioscience Lab at Arizona State University that achieved LEED Gold certification.

During his time at RMI, Ben was intimately involved in a variety of research and consulting projects including technical analysis, charrette facilitation and grant-writing. Notable projects included the development of the Oberlin College Climate Neutral 2020 Plan, Forest City Stapleton Redevelopment, Goshen College Environmental Learning Center, and a joint effort between the US Navy and United Nations High Commission for Refugees focused on global re-settlement. Ben was also responsible for one of RMI’s best-selling publications, the Green Development 2.0 CD-ROM, that featured over two-hundred green development case studies.
