As a health technician, my role encompassed the traditional roles of medical assistant, scribe, and first responder. As a medical assistant, I treated patients under standing orders, managed medication distribution, and triaged. As a scribe, I charted for physicians and recorded all patient details carefully and precisely. As a first responder, I responded to all medical emergencies for a camp of over 600 people. I also cared for campers staying overnight in the health center, making sure their physical and emotional needs were met.

Recruited by my close friend, I helped cofound this non-profit charity organization. Hedge's Helping Hands provides auxiliary service to Hedge's House of Hope homeless shelter in Isla Vista. The residents of the shelter are socially deprived, and this organization fundraises and puts on social events like barbecues, movie nights, and painting nights to combat the toll on the residents' mental health. I helped start organization as founding fundraising coordinator by setting up a bank account, acquiring non-profit status + tax-exemption, and fundraising over $850. I also organized multiple fundraisers, leading a group of volunteers to facilitate smooth operation and success.

At Urban Optics, my responsibilities include gathering medical histories, pretesting, patient care, briefing doctor on patients, scheduling, providing customer service, processing insurance, communicating with doctors and staff, and so much more. As a Companion Care volunteer for Doctors Without Walls, I spend most of my time interacting with patients. This organization is driven to assist people experiencing homelessness in accessing long-term medical care solutions and relationships with physicians. We go out into the streets and meet our patients where they are, getting them the help they need and educating them on how to develop a sustainable relationship with the healthcare system. Specifically as a Companion Care volunteer, my most fulfilling duty is assisting our patients in setting up appointments and arranging transportation. This work is very meaningful for me because it allows me to dive deeper into my passion for helping the underserved communities in medicine.

As an undergraduate research assistant, I led groups of undergraduate students in research projects characterizing response pathways to Measles Virus, inclusion body formation, and other host-virus interactions. I wrote or edited over 30 research grant proposals by myself or my peers. Starting this business was my first time trying my hand at entrepreneurship. I was the sole employee not on a per diem basis. As a result, I set up entire organization: social media, logo design, marketing, and business plan. I also managed prep, planning, set up, clean up, hiring, and accounting duties for the restaurant. The last few months of running this business, I switched my focus to volunteering my time to fundraise for organizations I was passionate about. Ultimately, I fundraised over $900 for multiple organizations including Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.

As a lifeguard, I proactively maintained patron safety in the pool, lake, and river. I also administered first aid in multiple critical scenarios. I cooperated and communicated with teams of 6 or more guards in order to create, supervise, and lead water activities with campers.
