As Director of Event Services at Smithbucklin, I lead multiple teams in providing convention, trade show, sales, sourcing and digital services to trade and professional associations, charitable and cause-based nonprofits, and corporations. I am privileged to work with teams of committed, trusted individuals who possess the proven ability to help reduce costs, improve outcomes and efficiencies. The teams I lead support unique strategic initiatives including event experience and event design for in-person and virtual events as part of an omnichannel approach. We expertly coordinate and manage events of all sizes, ranging from 2,000 to more than 65,000 attendees. Our in-person events are regularly named to the Trade Show Executive Gold 100 List, the Trade Show News Network’s (TSNN) Top 50 Fastest-Growing Trade Shows List and the TSNN’s Top 250 Trade Shows List. Over the course of my 22-year tenure with Smithbucklin, I have served in multiple roles – joining the organization as a coordinator and now serving on the management team and advising our executive group. I earned my Certified in Exhibition Management (CEM) designation and graduated from the Krakoff Leadership Institute. In 2014, I was named a Forty Under 40® winner by the Association Forum of Chicagoland and U.S. Association Executive (USAE) weekly newspaper. I am an active member of the International Association of Exhibitions and Events (IAEE) and served as chair of the Midwestern Chapter in 2013. Today, I actively represent Smithbucklin leadership on both the Visit San Antonio Customer Advisory Board and serve on the IAEE Education Committee. My broad association experience, my passion for working with clients, and my strong business acumen and relationship management skills have contributed to building Smithbucklin’s expertise in meeting the missions of client organizations.

Event Manager, Event ServicesSmithbucklin Jul 2007 - Jul 2011In 2007, I was promoted to a management role where I was responsible for managing and executing the onsite brand for each of my clients. I also focused on improving the exhibitor experience. At this time I also began to manage the team responsible for sales of sponsorships, exhibits, advertising, and Web properties for our tradeshow clients as well as provide support to our executive group in developing Smithbucklin talent.Under my leadership, one of my teams was honored with the Fastest 50 award from Tradeshow Week for producing one of the “Fastest 50” growing shows – three years in a row – for the American Society for Healthcare Engineering (ASHE) of the American Hospital Association. I also began working with corporate clients, including Carol Anderson by Invitation (CAbi), where I focused on bringing their brand to life at their semi-annual events. I began working with KeHE Distributors during this time, and still do today. Our focus is their hosted buyer program for their two semi-annual tradeshows and two regional tradeshows.

My responsibilities included exhibitor customer service, assignment of exhibit space, and management of various contractors. My initial clients included the American Society for Healthcare Engineering (ASHE) of the American Hospital Association, the National Association of Orthopaedic Nurses (NAON) and the North American Association of Food Equipment Manufacturers (NAFEM). I also helped produce The NAFEM Show, a mainstay on the Trade Show Executive's Gold 100 and Trade Show News Network’s Top 250 Trade Shows List. I continued to serve NAFEM from 2007 through the 2017 show as the exhibit director.
