About Benjamin Edelstein

I'm a 6th year PhD Candidate in Applied Economics at The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. My research focuses on urban, environmental, and public economics, and my job market paper studies how local management of water scarcity affects new housing supply and residential water use. My other research has studied mobility and gentrification, riskiness in mortgage lending, and the impacts of school choice on house prices. I'm on the 2024-25 economics job market.Previously, I worked as a research associate at the American Enterprise Institute's Housing Center, where I am now an Adjunct Fellow. I received my B.A. in Economics and International Relations from the University of Southern California.
