As a technical fellow, I have continued working with the product and engineering teams to help in evaluating and incorporating AI tools in our stack to help solve meaningful customer problems. In addition, I have also been researching and experimenting with newer technology in order to enable virtual video production for businesses. This includes AI driven avatars, voice generation, as well as physical world implementations such as LED screens/walls driven by game engines.

In this role, I have been exploring both near term and longer term ways to apply emerging technology to help solve more problems for Wistia's customers. I spent the majority of my time in this role exploring the AI space and developing a strategy and helping incorporate these emerging technologies to improve the Wistia customer experience. This includes Large Language Models, NLP, image and video generation, as well as understanding how best to incorporate generative AI into B2B video workflows. During this time, I also investigated the live streaming space and how it might impact Wistia's target customer going forward. This resulted in a company acquisition and the subsequent release of Wistia's live webinar product in October of 2022.

During this period, I was in charge of Wistia's video marketing platform (representing 95%+ of revenue). This included P&L responsibility, product direction, and marketing. During this time, I led teams in marketing, product, and customer support. We developed new capabilities such as Wistia Channels, video A/B testing, and publishing videos to social networks. We also released groundbreaking content such as our documentary series "One, Ten, One Hundred" which won a Webby award and drove significant brand awareness and signups for the platform.

As part of the senior executive team, I worked with the other leaders to both come up with and implement significant changes in strategic direction over this time period. As a high growth company with no institutional investment, we were focused on creating a sustainable growth for the business that allowed us to both generate significant EBITDA while also not sacrificing internal growth and investment opportunities.

During this phase of the business, we focused on getting to profitability. We had developed product market fit over the past few years and were able to scale customer acquisition and operations to capture market share and build a strong brand. We positioned our product and company in the video marketing space and successfully crossed the line to profitability. In addition to being significantly involved in product direction and engineering, I was also responsible for finance, HR, customer support, business metrics, and real estate/facilities.

As the first employee after the founders, we worked to build, market, and sell the Wistia platform to thousands of business worldwide. We developed a freemium model and content marketing program that was able to start scaling the business and get to product market fit.

Built and oversaw an engineering team which developed a comprehensive social media platform. Was responsible for architecture and overall product management.

Led a group of 20+ researchers and software engineers across multiple sensor fusion programs. Our group built, maintained, and deployed the All-source Track and Identity Fuser (ATIF) for multiple DoD platforms and and DARPA/military service lab demonstration programs. This software, which used advanced optimization and estimation algorithms, brought together diverse data from various sensor modalities (including radar, imagery, video, etc.) to create a single integrated picture for battlefield situational awareness. In this role, I had P&L responsibility for $6M+ in annual revenue.

Led and managed a group working to integrate advanced sensor fusion software into Navy platforms.

Developed core algorithms for identifying and tracking conversations across blogs. Once the technology was proven, built a consumer facing product which helped introduce blogs to mainstream internet users. Acquired by Top10 Media in June 2006.

PI and led research on advanced optimization and estimation algorithms for tracking and sensor fusion.

Thesis title: Fundamental Building Blocks for a Compact Optoelectronic Neural Network Microprocessor My doctoral thesis work brought together research from several different areas to demonstrate feasibility of 3D semiconductor optoelectronic neural network. During the course of my research I designed and fabricated two mixed digital/analog GaAs chips in conjunction with Vitesse foundaries with novel photodetector designs that demonstrated multi-GHz response when tested with femtosecond impulse lasers. In addition, I designed and fabricated a system to create thick film holographic interconnects compatible with on-chip lasers (VCSELs) showing extremely high levels of diffraction efficiency. Finally, I modelled our proposed cascaded nearest neighbor neural network architecture and showed how it would potentially perform on a simplified MNIST-like dataset with errors.

Researched integration of micro-optics in microprocessors using standard fabrication processes.
