About Berta Silva

My academic and professional background is both in finance and economics. I began my career in Portugal at a Non-Governmental Organisation that is part of a global network of organizations working in international development. Thereafter, I moved to Mozambique within the same network. The experience I obtained in these posts instilled in me a strong interest in the links between financial issues and development processes, thus encouraging me to focus on these topics more fully in an academic environment. Therefore, I enrolled in a PhD programme in Development Finance at Stellenbosch University in 2014. In January 2018 I started a new job at the French School of Cape Town as a finance and administrative director where I achieved great results within an international environment.
