About Bess Eiermann, Phd, A-Dtr
After graduating with a Masters in Dance/Movement Therapy, I directed a residential drug treatment facility for 12 years and an HIV/AIDS organization for 10 years. Along the way I earned another Masters in Counseling and a doctorate in Expressive Arts Therapies. In 2006, I completed 22 years of directing non-profits and moved into the education realm at Santa Rosa Junior College. I coordinated the MESA High Schools Program for 5 years, and then moved onto Support Services Specialist for the Disability Resources Department for 8 years.With my background in counseling, movement and expressive arts, I directed a senior citizen performing arts group for 5 years. I developed the educational curriculum and taught weekly dance classes for 50 senior citizens, which then culminated with an annual production at the Spreckels Performing Arts Center in Rohnert Park. Also, for five years I taught weekly expressive arts and movement sessions that focused on enhancing creative expression.I have 10 years of experience in improvisational theater and am a certified Applied Improvisational Coach through the Applied Improvisation Network (AIN). This is an organization that applies the tenets of improv to business, education, therapy and all walks of life.After retiring from Santa Rosa Junior College in 2019, I became the director of the Integrated Arts of Northern California - an organization that uses all the arts in therapy, business and everyday interactions. I also joined the faculty at Santa Rosa Junior College to teach Expressive Arts and Improvisation in the Lifelong Learners Program.
