Beacon Support is an established provider of specialist 1:1 mentoring, study skills and Assistive Technology support to students with specific learning difficulties (SpLDs) within further and higher education. As co-founder and member of the Board, I am principally responsible for defining the vision and objectives of the business and implementing the agreed strategy. Operationally, I oversee the following key areas: (1.) Student liaison; (2.) Business development (3.) Staff management (4.) Regulatory compliance; (5.) CPD/Training oversight; (6.) External stakeholder management; (7.) Sector research and development.

I have a lifelong love of literature and language and in my spare time I enjoy writing. Over the years I have worked with Penguin, Random House, Bloomsbury and Working Partners, with approximately 60 titles published, and am signed with the Joanna Devereaux Agency. I have enjoyed writing children’s novels over the course of my career, including books for reluctant readers, but am currently writing a psychological thriller for adult readers.

As senior specialist tutor at USW I oversaw the training and development of the team of specialist tutors. I also delivered diagnostic assessments for dyslexia and other SpLDs. I maintained a caseload of undergraduate and postgraduate students to whom I delivered specialist tutoring, facilitating their learning journey and supporting their needs.
