With years of diverse experience in the arts, creative agencies and food systems I have developed expertise in project, program, business and nonprofit organization management, as well as community outreach and development. My super power is being nimble. I can hit the ground running and keep the plates spinning. I thrive on helping teams succeed in envisioning and realizing innovative outcomes. From 1998-2001, I co-owned and managed Pacific Bridge Contemporary Southeast Asian Art Gallery, a gallery and artist-in-residence program in Oakland, California. Over the course of three years Pacific Bridge, the first gallery in the US to exhibit contemporary artists from Southeast Asia, held 18 exhibitions and hosted 18 artists-in-residence, working with artists from ten countries. In 2001 I was contracted by the City of Oakland to establish the non-profit Oakland Art Gallery. I managed the build-out of the gallery, established the gallery's 501c3 status, cultivated the board, and served as the first Director. After moving to Oregon in 2005, I applied my project management and business development skills to creative agency management at Owen Jones & Partners and Thread Creative. As the Director of Operations at Thread Creative writing studio I honed exceptional skills managing people, projects, and budgets as I led a team of employees, based in two different cities, as well as independent contractors who worked remotely, producing high-quality, high-volume, time-sensitive seasonal deliverables for an international brand. I maintained client relations with diverse stakeholders in the USA and Europe. I led the agency through a rapid expansion, hiring and training team members, and redesigning workflow processes to scale with the growth. In 2016 I charted a new course, redirecting my skills in support of creating a more ethical, resilient and just food system. In 2018 I completed the Graduate Certificate in Sustainable Food Systems at Portland State University. Over the past few years I have initiated projects and programs as well as joined in existing efforts aimed at improving our local food system. I have taught teens hands-on cooking skills. I helped found Cook First Portland, a collective of home cooking advocates dedicated to cultivating the Portland home cooking community through educational programs. I joined the Slow Food Portland Board, where I serve as the Board Chair. In 2022 I have been producing (both filming and editing) short cooking demo videos for the Pacific Northwest Community Supported Agriculture's Consume Something Amazing! campaign.
