Profile bio

About Beth Ryan

At a recent TESL Toronto seminar, the speaker, Jessica K. Webster, asked us to describe ourselves in three words. In my case, they are enthusiastic, helpful and creative. Stress is not always a bad word. In fact, a certain amount brings out qualities that people tend to appreciate in me. I face problems with a positive attitude, and I bring energy to the classroom. Paradoxically, helping other people de-stresses me when I'm busy. I really don't mind stopping to help a co-worker, and I always have time for a student who wants to learn. Stress also seems to be the proverbial mother of invention for me. I feel the creative spark that inspires me to create new materials or activities more intensely when I'm fully engaged in work. Specialties: Academic preparation for non-native speakers of English; Spoken English--pronunciation and understanding differences between spoken and written forms of English

Listed skills include Language Teaching, Teaching English As A Second Language, Curriculum Development, Adult Education, and 18 others.
