Grant Writer

Arvada, Co

My role at Hope House allowed me to grow into not only a Grant Writer, but a full-service grant practitioner. Solely responsible for grant writing and administration, I leveled up quickly in my writing and administration skills. In less than two years, I went from a novice in the grant space, to leading operational grant seeking while also driving capital grant fundraising to support a $4M building campaign. I had to be a self-starter, a relationship-builder, a project manager, and a fundraiser, and I succeeded in each while surpassing fundraising goals and setting the organization on a path to continued success upon my departure. This role, and the growth I experienced, helped me land my next role at the Denver Public Library, leading a team of grant professionals in fundraising for critical library and community needs.Boosted operating funding 20% in year one.For the first time in company history, contributed 10% of overall capital funding via grants.Created and executed grant strategy, securing operating and capital campaign funding.Leveraged current, relevant data in grant proposals and reports, increasing grant management effectiveness and overall success.Renewed previously lagging funder partnerships, secured new funder partners and connected funders to the mission by implementing a new stewardship process.Engaged the Board of Directors and Executive Team in the grant funding conversation, introducing reporting capability which illuminated opportunities and funding progression.

Membership Manager

As a young professional starting at the Downtown Denver Partnership, I learned many skills that would help me succeed in future professional endeavors, including: Committee LeadershipMembership Recruitment and RetentionProject ManagementBudgetingCommunicationsWhat I learned most in my time there was the importance of a committed and energetic team in achieving goals. I was both an individual contributor and a leader on the Membership Team, and that team was committed to the organization’s success, but also to one another. I learned a lot from my Director, who provided a combination of guidance and autonomy, and I have taken that approach in my team leadership efforts, and I also learned from my peers, who were always willing to chip in and assist when needed. Team dynamics are so important to achieving success and because of this experience, I intentionally recruit for positions with positive team dynamics in mind.Elevated membership sales and retention strategy representing $1M in ARR and 700 members.Led the management of sponsorships, proposals, tracking and fulfillment representing $100k annually.Guided a 12-person Membership Services Committee volunteer team and led 2 Membership Coordinators.Designed and coordinated member events of up to 200 attendees.Supported operations of Downtown Denver Leadership Program and its Alumni Association.
