Work is personal to me. I spend many hours working each week, so I value my relationships with team members and my contribution to an organization’s success.My most recent position is Chief Executive Officer at Ohlinger Studios, a woman-owned company that develops and produces print and digital content for clients in higher ed and career and technical educational publishing. During my tenure at Ohlinger Studios, I’ve contributed in four key areas: leadership, project management, training, and development. My success in building strong relationships with clients contributed to the adoption of a one-point of contact model company-wide. This was one factor that led to an increased volume of work and rapid growth of the company. I developed a robust project management process which enhanced quality content review and improved efficiency. And, I created and provided training to in-house team members and freelancers which contributed to developing and producing quality content on time and on budget. I’m known for my ability to effectively bring team members with different perspectives and different communication styles together in pursuit of a common goal. I developed a title that was a collaboration between disparate groups. No one thought that this book could be completed, but I was up for the challenge and was able to successfully manage the project through publication. I take pride in what team members have said when interviewed about my role as a manager: “I wish I had her as a manager ten years ago; she is truly the best manager I have ever had; she makes me a better manager.” They commented that I am accessible, employ good judgement; I won’t pretend if I don’t know something; I handle issues openly, anticipate potential problems, and I am compassionate and respectful.I’ve devoted my entire professional life to education in one form or another. I began my career as a teacher and then became a curriculum director. I leveraged that background into a variety of positions in publishing. In my most current roles, I’ve had the opportunity to influence educational content for learners. I embrace my organizations’ goals as well as clients’ goals as my own and derive great satisfaction from achieving and exceeding them.
