I have a unique mix of in-house and private practice legal experience, which gives me valuable perspective when counseling private and public sector clients on labor and employment issues. Before founding Schultz & Young, I served as a law clerk with the Michigan Employment Relations Commission, a Labor Relations Staff Associate at United States Steel Corporation, and an outside lawyer at a highly esteemed employment and labor law firm. I am always focused on achieving the best possible outcomes for my clients, and brings real-world know-how and pragmatism to avoiding or mitigating risk to steer clear of the courtroom. I pride myself on my ability to anticipate issues before they happen, and guide employers through the many intricacies of state and federal employment laws and regulations as they relate to workplace policies; hiring, disciplinary actions, termination, and severance agreements; union relations; labor negotiations; and employment discrimination claims.
