I provide policy support to ASTHO staff by tracking and analyzing state legislation, identifying and analyzing emerging public health policies and strategies, and developing and sharing resources for evidence-based and evidence-informed laws and policies impacting public health. Some recent projects include policy academies on breastfeeding, maternal & child health, and food safety, as well as legislative research and policy analysis on public health infrastructure. I also lead an internal workgroup demonstrating how different policy levers work together to form the policy landscape for a particular public health issue, and manage the Health Policy Update blog which highlights key health policy issues in the states.
