I am the Business lead for Strategic Change programmes in Cheshire Constabulary. Current priorities are the development of a new Command & Control system with SAAB, a tri-force collaboration on core operational IT systems (Niche), the Emergency Services Network, Digital Policing Programme and a revised Estates Strategy. In addition I continue operational work as a tactical commander for firearms and public order and duty Superintendent for the force, run the force negotiator cadre, provide CBRN Tactical command and also strategic firearms command.

As Superintendent for Local Policing, I had responsibility for leading the 8 Local Police Unit Commanders who cover the Cheshire Force Area. Local Policing in Cheshire consists of Response Officers, Neighbourhood beat officers and PCSOs and Investigation teams, both proactive and reactive CID. A key part of this role was managing the transition to merge 3 territorial commands into one. In this role I was responsible for 1200 Police Officers and Staff, working with 400 Special Constables to deliver policing to the changing community needs, adapting the frontline focus of the organisation from a traditional acquisitive, violent and drugs crime focus, to one able to respond to be both more responsive to local community issues and the emerging crime types around vulnerability, cyber and organised criminality in the technological age.

I transfered to forces take up the post of T/Ch Supt as the Area commander for Northern Cheshire which includes Warrington, Runcorn and Widnes. This area borders Merseyside, Wigan, and Manchester, together with West and East Cheshire Boroughs. As the Area Commander I am responsible for all aspects of Policing delivery in the area including Neighbourhood, Response and Investigative policing. Due to this command areas location, the focus was on vulnerability and organsied crime threats, predominantly from surrounding areas. I quickly forged strong partnership links through the Community Safety Partnership and concentrated by limited time here on developing existing staff and the leadership team, and concentrated on improving victim and problem solving focus in order to prepare for a force wide re-structure which was to shape the way that Policing was delivered in Cheshire.

Resourcing the force with Officers with the right skills, at the right times, to counter the predicted threats. Head of Learning & Development; Transforming our traditional methods of police training into innovative & exciting new ways to improve our people's skills & knowledge in an increasingly demanding environment. We will soon have an exciting new Learning & Development Centre of Excellence in April 2014 & are developing income generation avenues.4. I lead on Leadership Development - we have an innovative programme using NLP, transformational language, positive thinking & creativity. Promoting the force values of Positive, Fair, Courageous, the programme is designed to deliver an Emotionally Intelligent organisation. We work with a number of partners on this programme, assisting with their product development. Current Operational Policing specialisms: Tactical Firearms Commander, Advanced Public Order Commander. I was the Programme Manager for the Force restructure and operating model modernisation to prepare the force for the period of austerity. In this programme, the new operating model and method of working was desgined, managed through governance, and implemented. This involved dealign with complex information, some 32 workstreams, and built my project management skills. It involved broad, and indepth communication across a range of stakeholders and partnerships, and involved a programme of redundencies. Significantly, the change was successful because of the difficult decisions that were made, but carried out with consideration to the people they impacted on and those who were left to lead in the space left behind. My realisation of this and the management of it was amongst the factors of success
