I am now a consultant and the former Senior Partner at Madderns Patent and Trade Mark Attorneys, with over 36 years of experience helping clients navigate the Intellectual Property system.I am currently looking for start-up and company board advisory positions. I advise on Intellectual Property aspects of electronic and software-related technologies, medical technologies and mechanical matters, but almost 40% of my time has been spent dealing with the exciting area of brands. I’m passionate about helping clients protect their great ideas and successfully bring innovation to the national and global markets. I work closely with clients on their journey into the market and enjoy the challenge of understanding the technological, branding, and business realities of this journey. In addition, I regularly speak with university students to grow their understanding of the essential elements of a commercially viable project and the commercial realities that lay ahead.Prior to joining Madderns, I gained 10 years of industry experience working in the South Australian Police Department's Radio Communications Section and at Motorola as a Sales Engineer. Both these roles gave me practical experience not only in R&D but also on the other side of the table, selling goods and services. I have a passion for training others. For five years, I was a lecturer and tutor on patent drafting with the Academy of Education of the Institute of Patent & Trade Mark Attorneys Australia. I was an adjunct lecturer at the University of Adelaide for eight years, delivering an undergraduate course on the Legal Aspects of Entrepreneurship. I offer training in drafting patent specifications to any interested patent attorney firm here in Australia or elsewhere. I have been Secretary and am currently the Immediate Past President of FICPI Australia. Specialties: Intellectual Property Strategy, Patents, Trade Marks, Designs, Litigation Support
