With over 30 years of experience focused on leveling the playing field for property owners, Billy has represented clients against governmental condemning authorities at the local, county, state, and national levels.Recognized as an authority in condemnation and eminent domain, Billy’s lengthy list of notable victories includes the largest jury verdict for a property owner in a condemnation case in the State of Texas and a case argued before the Texas Supreme Court, establishing a property owner’s right to recover proximity damages from an interstate highway project, a case that has been cited more than 300 times since the ruling. Selected by his peers as a top legal expert on industry lists and rankings produced by The Best Lawyers in America©, Super Lawyers and Chambers USA, Billy was recently recognized by Best Lawyers in America© as the 2024 “Lawyer of the Year” for Eminent Domain and Condemnation Law in Houston, a recognition he also received in 2017.
